Nasty God Squad TV - aren’t they supposed to be Christians?

Just when you start feeling comfortable in your own cosmopolitan bubble - you know the score … you don’t believe there are too many racists or homophobics around, you’ve convinced youself that the far right must be “joking” with their bullshit, you are confident that people only watch American Idol to be ironic - this comes along.  GodTube - a happy clappy nasty little cauldron of hatred to keep rightwing Christians happy.

GodTube is so funny you need to stab pens into your own thighs to remind you to breath.  It is truly inspirational as a medium for comedy.  Ball breakingly absurd and wonderfully scripted. 

Then it dawns on you - this is NOT a joke.  These people are serious.  Their hatred and christian-themed polemics weren’t scripted in a lab by a clever comedian.  These people exist.  Jesus wept - if these are the people that kick around in heaven, I’ll take a big slice of hell.  You know what - I’ll happily go and gun down half of the people in these videos just to ensure I get to hell!

Godtube.com treats us to a clip titled ‘The Day They Kicked God out of the Schools’ and espouses a warped view that the recent US campus killings are God’s revenge for outlawing school prayer.  There’s plenty more, including a guy dressed as Gene Simmons from Kiss being berated for being un-Christian.

There is however, one ray of hope.  Something that might just stop you from going out to burn down a church.  Some of the comments are hilarious when they are hijacked by non-believers.  For this reason I will be returning and commenting like the childish dissenter I am.

    You’ll see ploop offering the following pearls at the bottom of the comments chart, “Y’know I was agnostic before I saw this video. Now, I’m seeing things a little clearer - a banana cannot be a fluke … with it’s flip top lid and 5 grooves there is something more going on. “

  5. Thank you so much, ploop. This is a freakin’ GOLDmine. For example, this is what I’ve already learned from just watching one godtube video:

    there has be a god, because bananas fit perfectly in your hand. There’s no way that could be a coincidence. Out of the thousands of edible plants on this planet, what are the odds that one would fit perfectly in your hand? That would be, like, i dunno… a thousand to one, or something…

  9. I have bad news Ploop. For me the Plooptionary has been one of the funniest websites i visit… arguably the funniest…

    until now.

    God Tube knocks your venn diagrams and ploop tv into a comedy cockhat and drops a 1 tonne bible directly into Ploop’s groin.

    God Tube is comedy gold. Terrifying, nauseating and a cautionary tale for anyone entertaining thoughts that America isn’t a heartland of fundamentalism to rival any Islamist state.

    Between Fox news and GodTube it’s tough to choose which is the more pernicious. Either way, I’m scared… and laughing (but it’s the laugh of the frightened)

    Many thanks for bringing this site to my attention. It’s now a favourite.
