Christopher Hitchens - saint or owl?

Posted by cloop

Our thanks to Jake Mayle for putting this in our path and forcing us to trip over it.

Now Christopher Hitchens may, in many respects, be the most objectionable of men - pompous, arrogant, insufferably smug to name but three of his qualities - but there’s no denying that sometimes he is a national (indeed international) treasure.

if you were wavering in your belief that he’s not entirely irredeemable and finding yourself 9 times out 10 coming down heavily on the side of “tiresome windbag” then i urge you to consider this evidence and think again.

If the video’s not above then click here  as I’ve clearly ballsed up …

sure - he looks like an owl. And not, i’m swift to point out, one of those cute owls…. no he looks like a priggish bug eyed overfed fool of an owl in a linen suit.

but who wouldn’t love to have that command of language and acerbity.

He is, with the deepest regret, an international treasure and we at Ploop applaud him for standing up and denouncing the hypocrisy of the likes of Falwell and men of his ilk, line and kidney

  2. Greetings:

I caught Mr. Hitchens video on another blog and then went into Youtube to see the FOX interview with 2 neo-fascists as well. Hmm, Hitchens is a pompous, bad-tempered, ill-charmed git, even if he does have a point (or twenty).

However, the most fascinating part of it all is the cultural clash he has with American sentimentality and his complete inability to milk anything from it.

    Hilarious!
