Twitter - offering ‘mobile’ democracy?

I’ve been pootling around on twitter for a while now. I like it. In fact, you can follow me here. Not that I’d recommend it, as I just update with drivel. But, as an immediate way for people to update it’s superb. Here’s why; you don’t have to have a computer. And, in places like Africa (and China) there is not a huge mass of people with computers but there is vast saturation of mobile phones. That’s where twitter is clever - it allows people to broadcast to a large audience via their mobile phone. I’s be fascinated to see twitter updates from people voting in Zimbabwe for example, from inside Tibet etc … Twitter offers a voice because it uses what most people have, a mobile. For me, that’s powerful. Below I’ve doodled it graphically …
